Angela’s Ashes

I finally finished reading Angela’s Ashes. Oh My Gosh, what a tragic story. A few years ago I set it aside after reading half way through the book. I found it very sad and depressing. However, once I started to reread the book, I’m glad I did. Written about life in Ireland before and during the WWII era. It gave me an insight into my family’s life during those maternal Grandparents were adults while my parents were the children growing up in Ireland. As I read the book I felt it told about the lives of the poorest of the poor families in Ireland, yet they speak of people poorer than themselves. It’s an unbelievable story of how people overcame their tragic lives. This is a true story recollected and written by Frank McCourt. I’m going to begin reading his sequel ‘Tis tonight.
