For us ~ Memorial Day Weekend is Grand Children Weekend

Since our first Grand Child was born, Memorial Weekend has been our weekend with the Grand Children. This is the first Memorial Weekend we have not shared with them. Due to my sprained ankle, honestly, not having them with us hurts almost worse than my ankle.

Some years we don’t do to much others years we do a bit more. Last year we went for a ride in Grandpa’s Jeep, hiked the Devil’s Punch Bowl and picked strawberries together in Oak Glenn. One year we went to the zoo, another the beach and another fishing up at Big Bear. We mostly hang out though, plant our summer veggies, ride the horses or the quads.

The funny thing is the weekend they remember most is when we drove up the back way to Big Bear. We stopped and had our picnic lunch by the prettiest stream. It was very hot that day, and they went swimming in their underwear in the stream – since we had not planned on them swimming. They were only 5 and 3 years old yet they still remember that day.

We always look forward to catching up on all the things that are important to each of them particular year and of course I take lots of pictures. Sadly, there won’t be any pictures to add to the scrapbook this Memorial Weekend. However, we are planning to take a rain check this summer sometime as soon as I’m up and around and they are out of school.

We sure do miss them this year 😦
