As we’ve moved from one town to another through out our life together hubby and I have been fortunate to stay in contact with so many of his friends, my friends and our friends. Just the other day, I was talking via internet with a long time friend about our up coming move to Texas. She stated “yeah, I was all set to miss you when you move, but realized we will keep in touch the same way we do now…lol.” The reality of that comment struck me … we are so fortunate to live in an age were it’s easy to stay in touch. We’ll miss a lot of our friends, although thanks to email, face book and blogs we can keep up with most everyone much easier than that we ever could before the World Wide Web. The internet has allowed us to re-connect with old friends, keep in touch with new friends and to even make new friends. We’ll miss events like class reunions, the local Rodeos, horse shows, and getting together with old friends, catching up on kids and grand kids, but we’ll be there is spirit.
What will be the hardest part of moving is not being physically close to our family. There’s no doubt we’ll come back to Cali to visit with our son and his family, as well as head to Nevada to visit our daughter’s family. And of course we’ll be coming back for those grand children’s hugs and love. We will look forward to watching them compete in a rodeo or catching a game they are playing.
Family traditions such as Thanksgivings – are usually spent with Hubby’s Sister-in-Law and her family in Northern California; then we traditionally head up to Mariposa to my folks for the rest of the week. Christmas Eve is we spend with our son’s family while Christmas Day has been with daughter’s family. All of these family traditions will either continue as they were or we’ll all adapt and start new ones. Whatever happens I know that our family will stay intact and close because we’ve built a solid foundation of love and respect for each and every member. And thanks to the internet, texting, facebook and email we’ll share important daily events with our entire family. We can even learn to skype too… Love has no boundaries… no wall or distance can ever change the love we have for our family.
