Take Driver’s license test

Monday or Tuesday we both have to take our North Carolina driver’s license test. Nothing like waiting till the last minute! There are a lot of similar driving rules here but there are some that are, in a good way, unique to North Carolina. Although, getting the hang of them takes brain power when driving. Old habits are hard to break.
Speed limits are set state wide and they don’t allow exceptions for overages! There is no sliding if you are 10 miles over! State wide unless posted otherwise the speed limits are: Interstate Hwys are 65mph, Out side town/cities two lane roads are 55mph, cities are 35mph. It’s almost a sure thing that in each town their Main Streets are 20mph. School buses are limited to speeds of 45mph even on the highways.
Oh the DMV is split into two offices one where you take your license and another where you register your auto/vehicle’s license plates. Fees are much lower here: license is $15.00 for 4 years. We’ll be registering the vehicles soon. I’m told the registration fees and property tax combined are much lower than what we were paying in Cali.
Life is slower here, even on the freeways-oops highways, but it’s truly is much more enjoyable and relaxing.
