This afternoon, I started my “Master Gardener” Classes through North Carolina’s Agriculture Cooperative Extension. Most counties throughout the nation offer these classes to all community residents. The classes are a great way to learn which plants grow best in your home town, all the information is based on scientific studies. It’s also a great way to network and meet people of similar interests, contacts for supplies or those with experience in your gardening zone.
We will receive 40 hours of training in the following areas: vegetables, fruits, shrubs, trees, lawns, plant diseases, insects, and soils. This will be a great opportunity for me to meet new people locally while learning more about our community’s gardening practices. I enjoyed today’s class very much, a nice review for me, plus I met a lot of people. I’m looking forward to the rest of the classes, the syllabus looks very interesting.
